Electrotrash is back. Sort of.
It’s been a while. Thirteen years, to be precise.
The last post on Electrotrash went up in 2013. Since then, the site has slowly fallen apart. Links have died, music has disappeared, and the old WordPress installation has become more trouble than it’s worth.
But the music, the artists and the stories are still worth keeping.

CTEMF 2013 - CAPE TOWN ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL 12 - 17 February 2013
“The Cape Town Electronic Music Festival was a defining moment for the local electronic music scene, now clearly marked on the international map but more importantly in the hearts and minds of its South African followers.” – Whatsonincapetown.co.za, April 2012
March 2012 saw a selection of Cape Town’s electronic music scene come together in …

Richard The Third went on a European tour with Spoek. Check out what happened in Geneva:
It was only once we were on the road that I began to realise that our gig at the Electron Festival in Geneva was going to be something momentous, whichever way it worked out. I hadn’t …Free Tickets to HAEZER ‘It’s Not Our Fault’ EP Launch at Go!Go!
We are giving away a pair of tickets to the Haezer EP launch. All you have to do is send a mail to [email protected] with the name of his EP to stand a chance of winning. Competition closes at 23:59 on Monday the 25th of April. The winning mail will be picked at …New Liver original and remix: Doubtless and Astroid Boys - Welcome to the Zoo (preview)!
Doubtless is full of Liver swagga. The drums have a funky swing in their step and the bass is filthy. The lead synth is edgy thanks to some well placed bit-crushing and at times moves into Voodoo People territory. Makes me wanna climb in my mech and stomp on some fools!
Liver - …Popskarr - My Dreams
My Dreams is the second free track Popskarr are giving away as a prelude to their EP dropping in July. In case you missed the first track, The Rise, you can grab it here.
The production matches the title, with Lapse laying down serene and dreamy electro-pop over which IAmWaves …Audiophile remixes the Glitch Mob, 187 Lockdown & Timbaland!?
Not all producers can remix, luckily this does not apply to Audiophile 021. He sent through a number of top notch remixes that show his versatility across genres and his talents at reinterpreting music.
His remix of Gunman by 187 Lockdown takes the speed garage track down a few …Red Bull Studio Cape Town: i art party
The i art sa community mural project, a collaboration between A Word Of Art and Adidas Originals, has, if anything, shifted the focus of Cape Town’s creative scene from the protected frame of the art-fag clique to Woodstock as a whole, a suburb that is incredibly diverse …Battle Beyond The Stars - The Desert
Battle Beyond The Stars will be dropping his new EP entitled Memorial in the very near future. The Desert is taken from this release, which promises to be something very special indeed. Simple drum programming and a tiny arp set the backdrop, for a synth with that …Bon Jovi Friday: Magnum Hi-Fi
This weeks Bon Jovi Friday mix comes courtesy of Magnum Hi-Fi, one half of the now defunct Grave Danger. The mix covers a number of genres, but feels cohesive rather than schizophrenic. It even contains the hauntingly beautiful Lonely C by Soul Clap. I do not want to single out …New Liver Track: Luke Niewenhuizen
In celebration of his 1000th fan on the Book of Faces, Liver decided to release a free track, named after that person. Unfortunately he was not sure who was fan number 1000 and who was 1001 so he just combined the two names. It is also his first track since returning to Jozi. …Mashup Monday: Richard the Third Stop - Sin and Juice (Snoop Boot)
I honestly do not know where Richard finds the time to produce such ill bootlegs. Taking a cut n paste approach, he reduces and changes samples and rearranges slices in a way that creates a new sound. A good bootleg is both familiar and yet strange, and Sin n Juice does that …
