Biography:

Black Rabbit started out with Paul G and Mia in November of 2003. After four months of working purely on the tracks in Pauls studio, they started conceptualising the whole idea of forming a live band. They then found the name “Black Rabbit” which felt perfect. After David, who formerly sang opera for the band, designed the logo, they started thinking about a catch-phrase and ended up with “Follow the Black Rabbit”.

Six months later, Justin joined the band, initially as a an electric guitarist but then decided to move over to drums. Paul Cross joined the band around the middle of 2004 to do visuals for their introductory launch, which happened on the 28th of October 2004, and was a huge success. The band incorporated visuals, costumes, ballet dancers, break dancers as well as modern dancers into their live performance. They wrote a whole theatrical production that stunned the crowd. After that, they asked Paul Cross to join the band permanently as a visual member. Black Rabbit will, in future, use dancers again but for now it’s the music and the visuals.

Black Rabbit have also decided to go global and move to London, in July, for a few months to create a channel between the rest of the world and other South African bands. They hope to gain some inspiration while over there and finish their debut album “Mathematical”. They will have a CD launch and go on a national tour upon returning to South Africa.
